Re: found a job in alexandroupolis, whats it like there? hows the nightlife?
Alexandroupoli is not a tourist destination but only for visiting the preserved areas of Dadia Forest and Evros River Delta (bird-watching). Its port is serving Samothraki, a beautiful island with the ruins of Kabeiri temple, wonderful cascades, just a few good beaches but yummy traditional dishes. Alexandroupoli has its own night-life and a beautiful sea-front for walking along with taverns and coffee-shops. It is interesting to visit the towns Soufli, Dydimoteikho and Orestiada, on the way north to triple borders (Greece - Turkey - Bulgaria). There is a famous 3/day annual River Party (free camping allowed) at Ardas, on a week end of early August. Other than this, you can have a day-visit at Edirne, Turkey (old Greek name was Adrianoupolis). Not "quite quiet" but not hustly-bustly.
