Day trip out of Montgomery

We will be visiting our son in Montgomery and would like to take a day trip. Two opposite directions seem interesting: To Selma, Old Cahawba State Park, Demopolis back via Miller's Ferry and State Route 21 To Tuskegee, Auburn, Opelika, Wind Creek St Park and Wetumpka. Any suggestions comments or opinions on these options?
