I will be going to school in Aix-en-Provence in the fall and I was just wondering how French people view running (jogging) in the streets? I am a avid runner and need an outlet to exercise :)
If you google jogging with Aix-en-Provence then you'll find plenty of mention on it, including suggestions where to jog. Personally, I would not care less what people thought. The French are very precise about observing personal space. You'd do best to not get in the way of anyone or you'll get quite a few angry looks or mutterings.

Back in my days of speed walking, when I lived in Aix, I went to the public track. It's just outside of the main part of town. It's called la piste. That was in 1995 so I can't be sure it's still there. Here is a website for mapping out running routes. walkjogrun.net/index.cfm?c=A... The French do run. The Paris Marathon was just last Sunday. In Paris you are more likely to see them jogging in le Jardin du Luxembourg or Champs de Mars or a similar place rather than the street. However, you will see people jogging on the sidewalks. Just not as many as you would in the U.S.

Central Aix can get pretty busy, with narrow streets in the Old Town and Mazarin Quarter, and there aren't jogging tracks, so you're likely to find it impossible there. But outside the centre and in the parks, there shouldn't be a problem.
