I would like to visit this site on the 23th june 2007. Has anyone been there? any advice and help would be appreciatd Bal
This is a beautiful place to visit but it is in a pretty remote area. As I'm sure you are aware the 23rd is the anniversary of the mass murder so there will be some kind of ceremony there (there is every year), normally attended by Indian, Canadian and Irish dignitaries. Fly to Cork, rent a car and drive to Bantry and then on to Ahakista. A little under two hours. The memorial site itself is quite small but very dignified and a very spiritual place. My memory is that it is on the piece of land closest to where the plane was when the bomb went off. It has a sundial that lines up perfectly at the exact time of the bomb.

No I don't Bal. There are no hotels there at all. The nearest would be in Bantry. There is one in Bantry called the West Lodge that would be a fine option (if a little soul-less). I would reccomend staying in B&Bs. They would be much cheaper and more friendly and you would not need to book in June. Donal
