      Tents

      Morocco Yesterday

We will be going on tour in Morocco. One night we sleep in a tent camp. "Furthermore, via a dirt road to Merzouga dunes with beautiful landscape where you admire the sunset. Dinner and overnight in tents, under the big sky of the south center of the vast desert." Does anyone know what we can expect in these tents?

Fez to Marrakesh or Marrakesh to Marrakesh

      Morocco Apr 23, 2013 at 6:44 AM

      Hi,

My friend and me are thinking of a 3 days / 2 night trip (including dessert safari). We are thinking of either fez to marrakseh or marrakesh to marakesh. Would appreciate suggestion or advise on which is more worthwhile to pursue?

Separately, whatis the immigration (visa on arrival) process like for morocco? Is it anything like in Cairo (I personally ffound the immigration process in Cairo a bit chaotic with some agents seem to have "express" lane)?
      Thanks heaps before hand.

    • help with planning a trip to morocco

      Morocco May 11, 2013 at 2:10 PM

Hey! we are a family of 7 age 17-55 travelling to Morocco October. we have 9 days, landing and departing from Casablanca and our limitation is that on the nights of day 3,4,5,6 we have to sleep in Marrakesh since one of us is attending a conference there (the rest are free to do one-day tours from day 4 and on)

we are looking for a cool and adventurous trip with nature, history an culture.

This is an offer we got from a travel guide -- i would love to hear recommendations and comments from people who have been to Morocco recently about this plan..

      thank you!!! / Uri

      ===================

      the plan:

Day 1 Arrive in Casablanca airport drive straight to Rabat for brief visit of the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V and then on to Fez for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 A full day today to visit the oldest Imperial city in Morocco with the oldest university in the world. Our day begins in the old Medina with Fez El Bali - old Fez - the
Andalusian and the Karaouine quarter with its dyers and tanners and artisans working in the style of their forefathers.
As the day progresses we take in the Mellah - the Jewish quarter, with its old cemetery and the Royal Palace. A fascinating day finishing back in the hotel for overnight and the possibility to eat dinner out..

Day 3 Drive South to Marrakech via Beni Mellal. A scenic route taking us through some of the prettiest scenery of the Middle Atlas. Check in to our Marrakech hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 Morning tour of Marrakech taking in the historical sites and then afternoon free maybe to visit the Souks and the fabulous Djemma El Fna Square with its’ fortune tellers, dancers, snake charmers and water sellers. This square really is the heart of Marrakech. You will have time to wander around or just sit in one of the roof top cafes surrounding the square. Sit and enjoy this incredible picture postcard – a living theatre with the Atlas mountains as a backdrop before returning to our hotel for overnight. Or maybe take a Caleche (Horse drawn carriage) and visit the Majorelles Gardens made famous by Yves St. Laurent. Dinner can be taken outside.

Day 5 An early start today for Essaouuira, once known as Mogador. The "Purple Islands" off the coast were used by the Romans for the dying of their togas and we explore the old Medina little changed since its Portuguese occupants left; Back to Marrakech for overnight stay. Dinner again can be taken outside.

Day 6 Free day today or maybe a High Atlas adventure with jeeps and mules and some of the most spectacular scenery in Morocco with views over Mount Toubkal. Back to Marrakech and overnight with dinner outside.

Day 7 and 8 Leave for the South via Ouarzazate with its Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah made famous in many Hollywood films finally ending the day in Zagora and ultimately th Sahara Desert. Overnight with dinner in tents. Breakfast early the next morning to see the sunrise over the dunes and then set off for the return to Marrakech where we take dinner and overnight.

Day 9 Depending on the flight time leave for Casablanca airport

    • How do I find a cheap medium-term rental?

by Moroccobound Online Now Dec 1, 2012 at 10:15 AM

Hi folks, I'll be in Morocco for at least two months from the beginning of January. I'm flying to Agadir, and I'm looking for a humble, small apartment where I can be alone and work. I'm happy to travel a couple of hundred kilometres from Agadir. The location isn't that important. Warm, sunny, inexpensive, and a grocery store are my main criteria. I've tried finding apartment rentals online, but they're all geared towards people who want to spend more money than I do. I'm thinking of booking a few nights in a hostel and trying to find out how to go about renting a place once I'm there, but I'd be quite happy to have it taken care of before I get there. If it makes a difference for your suggestions, I can read English, Spanish, German, and French. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them. Than you kindly.

I'm reading a lot of mixed reviews, and not sure which ones are right. Some say its, cold and not sunny. Some say its about 22 degrees (which is perfect for us) but cloudy, Or the sun comes out later on in the day.... And the other reviews say it around 22degrees, and sunny, and sun bathing weather, which would be perfect. Can anyone shed some light please. Thanks

    • Gluten free dining in Agadir?

by Usjes Online Now Apr 12, 2012 at 3:23 AM

Hi, I am allergic to Gluten and so can not eat any food containing flour from wheat, rye, barley or oats. So I'm wondering where I would find a restaurant in Agadir that could cater for me? In most countries any more upmarket restaurant with an a la carte menu (as opposed to a fixed menu of preset dishes or a buffet) will do. I just need to be able to change my order to leave out any bread, or flour-based sauces. So, is there a particular area in Agadir where I would find more upmarket restaurants? I would prefer Moroccan food but any food is fine really as long as it is gluten free. Thanks, Usjes

Hi there, I am 28 years old and will be meeting my darling in Agadir. He is Moroccan and well we would like to cohabit. However I have heard that it is illegal for us to do so? I would also like to know the best way to get from Casablanca Muhammed V airport to Agadir El Masseira Airport if I can't catch a flight. Does any one know of any good regional low cost airline that will travel from Casablanca to Agadir? Alternatively are there buses between them and if so which are the best ones, and how expensive are they? How far is it it from Casablanca to Agadir by car travelling, as in hours please. Do I have to book in advance? One more question. How long can say for example 1000 dirrhams last, after accomodation? And finally As I am in Australia and obviously so is my banking institution, will the money that I withdraw in Agadir be to the value of the AUD? For instance if 1 AUD is 10 dr, then say 100 AUD is 1000 dr, now will my bank balance be with a minus of 100 AUD or would it be to the dr?

I have a booked a family beach holiday to Agadir and I'm getting rather worried!! I have just read that Agadir has a sea/mist that prevents the sun from appearing until midday (at the earliest and sometimes it doesn't appear at all) and which turns the air very chilly to the point of having to cover up....is this true? If so, I'm worried because we arrive on 18th and depart on 29th Aug, so it is too late to find another holiday with guaranteed sunshine, without loosing all the money I have paid!! Very disapointed that in all the time I researched this holiday, I uncovered the worst at the last minute. If anyone is able to give me the truth, then that would be appreciated, so that I can pre warn my young family....and prewarn everyone else via the national press that Agadir is not a place to visit if you want guaranteed sunshine! Thanks for your help...
