Currency in Acapulco

by dragonannie Online Now Oct 24, 2007 at 4:31 AM

We've been to Mexico before and never had to worry about local currency - dollars have sufficed. Is this also true for Acapulco? We will only be there a day before boarding a cruise-ship. Thanks.

Depends on what you buy. If you stick to the tourist shops, they will all accept your dollars. If you land up off the tourist path - like at the post office, they prefer pesos. Have small US bills. Usually any change you get will be in pesos.

Spend Mexican Pesos, which are very easy to obtain from an ATM machine, using the card your bank has already given you. If your ship will stop at other Mexican ports, you will be able to use your additional/left-over pesos there as well.

For a look at Acapulco, before you get there . . . have a look at some of my Acapuolco online photo albums: community.webshots.com/user/...
