    • Evening entertainment

Sharm El Sheikh Apr 19, 2015 at 5:41 AM

we have just returned from our 1st trip to sharm, staying at the coral sea holiday village.
It was an amazing holiday but the only thing it lacked was adult entertainment in the evenings, i.e. professional shows etc.
Can anyone tell me if there are any all inclusive hotels in sharm were they do have good evening entertainment so you don't have to venture out of the hotel.

    • How Safe is Hurghada

      Egypt Apr 13, 2015 at 2:24 AM

My boyfriend and I, both aged 21 are going to Hurghada - Jungle Aqua Park at the end of June 2015. As always we are joining the worry of safety when going to places in Egypt.
Can anyone who has visited Hurghada recently, review the safety and how safe it is for British tourists to be there please?
We are not looking to venture off our resort.
      Thank You

    • Is it safe?

      Egypt Apr 8, 2015 at 11:52 AM

hello! Me and my friend are planning to travel in El Gouna near Hurghada in August 2015. We are both 18 an are going to a summer camp which means, we will be mostly at the same place all the time. But our parents are worried about safety. What is situation in Egypt right now? Is it possible to get much worse till August? is there danger for terrorist attack? Will it be dangerous to go there? I think not, but it would be nice to hear what you think. Thank you very much!

    • Visiting Sharm in June 2015

Sharm El Sheikh Apr 2, 2015 at 12:27 PM

Hi Folks I am new to the forum and have had a look around and decided to join up.

I am travelling to Sharm el Sheikh in June 2015 with my partner, her child and her childs friend.

I have a few questions regarding the weather, medical facilities and general hospitality currency etc.

I understand the temperature will be 38 degrees if not higher, is there any advice on avoiding the sun midday etc and keeping hydrated?

I also hope that during our stay none of us have to use the medical facilities within sharm but if this is the case are they of a good standard?

Also I have heard differences in opinion of what currency to use US Dollars/Egyptian pound/English pound what is the best one to use?

Also due to the ongoing conflict which I understand is thousands of miles away I take it the sharm el sheikh resort is under tight security?

And lastly I am staying at the Tirana aqua park hotel has anyone used this hotel before? it seemed to have good reviews on trip advisor etc and had an aqua park hence the reason we booked it

Apologies for all of the questions just a bit apprehensive as it's my first visit to Sharm and it looks fantastic and I can't wait to holiday here!

    • Need suggestions for Abu Simbel

by joinjoni Online Now Jan 14, 2012 at 2:37 PM

We only have a couple of days for the Luxor/Aswan/Abu Simbel area of Egypt. My question is...

      1. would it be more beneficial to ONLY do Luxor for this time and eliminate the Aswan and Abu Simbel portion of the trip?

      2. How much extra time would Aswan and Abu Simbel add to this trip (how much time would I absolutely need--considering travel time as well).

      3. Is it possible (and would it make sense) to JUST do Luxor and Abu Simbel? I'm not sure what really is a "must see" in Aswan and I'm feeling that I will be more disappointed to miss out on seeing Abu Simbel than anything in Aswan. But so many people do both!

      4. So in all, my boyfriend and I are definitely seeing Luxor and we are most impressed by Abu Simbel but wondering if we can/should make the time for this portion. I do not want to kick myself later by not seeing it when I was there.

Thanks for all of your help!

Nile cruise - booking the optional Abu Simbel tour?

by Nic2004 Online Now Nov 25, 2007 at 2:35 PM

We'll be heading to our first Nile cruise at the beginning of December. Now I'm wondering if we should also book an optional tour to Abu Simbel. I'm a little bit concerned about the departure times - apparently in the middle of the night. Would you recommend to do this tour? Are those temples so much more impressive than those which can be seen during the "usual" cruise? So is it really worth getting up so early, spending so much time?
Well if yes, is it worth choosing a more expensive plane trip? Does it save a lot of time regarding a bus trip (also in the morning/night...)?
As to the weather: is it already that hot in Abu Simbel at the beginning/mid of December? I've read about 40°C and more, but don't know the month.
Many thanks for your help in advance!

    • Is it neccessary to stay overnight in Abu Simbel?

by tanyapak Online Now Sep 6, 2007 at 7:10 AM

I will travel from Aswan to Abu Simbel to visit the temple. As I've read some travel tips to visit the temple, most people suggest to take a convoy to be there and spend a few hour at the temple, then heading back to Aswan on the same day. Would you think it's enough time to explore the main attraction in Abu Simbel by following that plan? Or I should take a bus to Abu Simbel and spend a night there? Pls suggest.
