Hi guyz! my friend and i plan to pursue our study at Aberdeen University. My friend will be doing his phd in march 2007 and i'll be doing my Msc in late 2007... If anyone can share their views on how is life in aberdeen (i.e. cost of living) and how to travel to aberdeen from london? Thanks!
You can fly from London Heathrow with BMI or BMIbaby (budget carriers) or from London Luton with Easyjet (ditto). www.flybmi.com www.bmibaby.com www.easyjet.com Booking early will get you the cheapest flights, but the check-in times are v strict indeed, as are the luggage allowances. British airways also fly from London Gatwick and Heathrow. Train timetables and fares are on www. nationalrail.co.uk. You could get a coach (www.nationalexpress.com) but it takes around 12 hours. abdn.ac.uk/prospectus/pgrad/... gives you extra details. The cost of living is high everywhere in the UK, even higher in London. I don't think Aberdeen is any cheaper than any comparable UK city.
